Car air conditioning is the air conditioning system installed in your car.

Gradually the gas leaks from the system and it becomes less and less effective. Cheriton Motor House can recharge the refrigeration system and bring it back to full efficiency. The Climate control unit and sensors can also be checked to ensure the system is functioning correctly. Nowadays cars generally have an air conditioning system with separate temperature adjustment for driver and front passenger side. One of the most advanced system is the Thermotronic that maintains and regulates the temperature of every seat in accordance with a sophisticated set of sensors which measure temperature, sunlight, humidity and even pollutant levels in the ambient air, causing all openings to close automatically.

Fitted Batteries

A Car Battery is a type of Rechargeable Battery that supplies electrical energy to an Automobile Usually this refers to an SLI Battery (Starting – Lighting – Ignition) to power the Starter motor, lights, and the ignition system of a vehicle’s engine.

Brakes Supply, Fit and Maintenance

brakes

A vehicle brake is used to slow down a vehicle by converting its kinetic energy into heat. The basic hydraulic system, most commonly used, usually has six main stages. The brake pedal, the brake boost (vacuum servo), the master cylinder, the apportioning valves and finally the brakes themselves. The disc brake is a device for slowing or stopping the rotation of a wheel. A brake disc is connected to the wheel or the axle. To stop the wheel, friction material in the form of brake pads is forced against both sides of the disc. Friction causes the disc and attached wheel to slow or stop.

Cheriton Motor House can supply, fit and maintain your Brakes using genuine parts for all makes of Vehicles.

Supply, Fit and Repair Clutches

Clutch repairs Folkestone

There are many different vehicle clutch designs but most are based on one or more friction discs, pressed tightly together. The spring pressure is released when the clutch pedal is depressed thus either pushing or pulling the diaphragm of the pressure plate, depending on type, and the friction plate is released and allowed to rotate freely.

When engaging the clutch, the engine speed may need to be increased from idle, using the manual throttle, so that the engine does not stall. This requires fine control of the clutch). However, raising the engine speed too high while engaging the clutch will cause excessive clutch plate wear. Engaging the clutch abruptly when the engine is turning at high speed causes a harsh, jerky start.

Cheriton Motor House supply; fit and repair clutches to all makes of cars.

Supply, Fit and Repair Exhaust Systems

Exhaust systems Folkestone

An exhaust system is usually tubing used to guide waste exhaust gases away from a controlled combustion inside an engine. The entire system conveys burnt gases from the engine and includes one or more exhaust pipes. Depending on the overall system design, the exhaust gas may flow through one or more of:

  • Cylinder head and exhaust manifold
  • A turbocharger to increase engine power
  • A catalytic converter to reduce air pollution.
  • A silencer, to reduce noise.

Timing Belts

Timing Belt Diagram
Your car’s timing belt is what connects the crankshaft to the camshaft, essentially controlling the timing and order in which the engine’s valves open and close. It may sound confusing to some, but it’s one of the most vital bits of kit in your car.

Wheel Alignment

wheel-alignment

Wheel alignment is an area of car maintenance not often thought about.

Wheels should be perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other. Even a small misalignment may cause poor handling, wear and tear on your tyre, leading to premature replacement and accelerated wear on suspension parts.

What’s more, your car may start to ‘pull’ to one side, which may prove dangerous when driving. We recommend that wheel alignment is checked at least once a year or more often if you regularly drive over speed bumps, potholes or kerbs.
